Warmth

SHG & Artist Residency (Paris, TN) | 2022

  • Some of humanity’s most comforting rituals are saved for the darkest and bleakest months. Faced with the impending cold of winter, especially in another year where physical connection was limited due to the COVID-19 pandemic, there is a palpable craving for warmth.

This exhibition features work selected to reflect the comforting sensation of sitting by a fire: warm painted palettes, textiles worn and faded from use, sculptures to inspire positions of feeling held, and sounds that feel like a new crush whispering in your ear. We sought art responding to our animal nature and need for warmth, art that could be experienced by the body beyond being viewed: touched, heard, tasted, or smelled.

To end a harsh year, we humbly present to you, an exhibition to warm you up.
